The verrucosum leaves are velvety, heart-shaped and deep green with striking lime-coloured veins, giving it an almost painted appearance. As it matures, it develops gorgeous reddish undersides and soft, bristly stems. This is a climbing plant, so expect it to want to grow upwards—giving it a moss pole or similar support will help it thrive and encourage bigger, more impressive leaves. This plant is imperfect, but has been re-potted with our chunky houseplant mix.
Light:
Place within 1–2 metres of a bright East- or West-facing window, or slightly further from a South-facing window. It will tolerate lower light but grows best with consistent gentle brightness.
Water:
Water when the pot feels lighter and the top few centimetres of soil have dried out. Avoid overwatering – this plant prefers to dry slightly between drinks.
Soil:
Our chunky houseplant soil mix is ideal, giving the roots the airflow and drainage they need.
Temperature:
Content in general household temperatures, ideally between 18–26°C. Avoid placing near cold draughts or heat sources.
Feeding:
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength. Pause feeding in autumn and winter.
Supplied in a 12cm pot with fresh soil.
